An Authentic, Balanced & Transformative Yoga Experience Helping You Discover Your Flow
A river valley, formed over the years by flowing water, represents each of our personal journeys through life. Much like yoga, the flowing water determines the path, the smoothness of the rock formations, and length and depth of the valley. A life open to the transformative effects of yoga is often long, peaceful and fulfilled. Valley of Ananda aims to help participants discover their flow and form their own unique valleys.
Valley of Ananda
Valley of Ananda got its name from a valley at the Portuguese Bride, near Debre Libanos Monastery in Ethiopia. It was the venue of the bi-monthly yoga retreat of the ECA Yoga Group between 2010 and 2017. The Amharic name of the valley is Wusha Gadel, but the ECA Yoga Group nicknamed it The Valley of God due to its blissful serenity. It is through that experience that the name Valley of Ananda was adopted – Ananda being the Sanskrit word for ‘bliss’, and the yogic name of the Founding Instructor.
The Founding Instructor
Dozie Ezigbalike (Yogi Ananda) has been practising yoga since 1980. He started teaching yoga in 2010 after being certified by the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres as a Yoga Siromani in 2010. He has also obtained the Sivananda Yoga Advanced Teacher Training Certificate of Yoga Acharya.
He established the ECA Yoga Group at the United Nations compound in Addis Ababa, as a vehicle for sharing and teaching the yoga lifestyle, and led the group until his retirement in 2017. The services of Valley of Ananda draw from Dozie's experience at ECA, where he managed to maintain a balance between the yoga lifestyle and normal work and life commitments and situations. He is registered with Yoga Australia as a Level 2 Yoga Teacher.
